Paper sculpture can be considered a “green” art as almost all components are found in nature or derived from it. I make my own paper from natural fibers such as cotton linter and abaca. After the paper making process, the material is pressed against suitable existing relief, natural objects, or forms constructed from other materials. The dried resulting shapes are combined into the envisioned piece, at which time I may add the original object or other elements from wood, glass, leather, or metal to enhance the composition. I finish the resulting sculpture with acrylic or oil based paints.
